Breast Augmentation FAQ's

Breast Augmentation FAQ’s

Generally, you may want to wait to have a breast lift if you are planning to become pregnant in the near future. This procedure does not interfere with the success of a pregnancy in any way, but you will lose the results of a breast lift during pregnancy and if you decide to breastfeed. For longevity of results, you should consider a breast lift when you are not planning to become pregnant.

Once it survives the initial transfer period, fat becomes part of your natural breast tissue. Therefore, the results can be essentially permanent. However, weight loss and other conditions that impact your natural breast tissue may also impact the transferred fat, affecting the quality of your results.

Because some of the transferred fat may not survive, you may require more than one treatment to get your desired results. Generally, no more than three treatments are necessary to give successful results.

Fat is removed from areas where it is not wanted by liposuction. The fat is then treated and injected in many small quantities. Using small injections allows Dr. David Broadway to precisely contour your breast and to improve the survival rate of transplanted fat.

The FDA does not approve medical procedures, but it has approved a number of technologies related to fat transfers for breast augmentation, and others are under evaluation. At the Broadway Center for Plastic Surgery, we only use FDA-approved technologies, except in association with clinical trials.

In 2009, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) released the conclusions of its task force on fat grafting for breast augmentation. These conclusions included that the procedure seems to be effective and severe complications “appear to be extremely rare.” Therefore, the ASPS decided to allow surgeons to use their personal and professional judgment in deciding whether to perform the procedure.

The ASPS task force also noted that the success of the procedure seems to be highly dependent on a surgeon’s technique and expertise, making it crucial you select a plastic surgeon with a demonstrated track record of success at this procedure.

Yes. This procedure increases the size of your breasts and may improve their shape by removing fat from unwanted areas and injecting it into your breasts.

Choosing the right surgeon is the most important factor in a successful breast lift procedure outcome. While some doctors attempt to attract patients by advertising cosmetic surgery procedures at discounted prices, avoid choosing your surgeon based on price alone. The cost of surgery is an important factor; however, a breast lift is still surgery, with all of the inherent risks and complications. This is no time to make a decision based on price.

Dr. David Broadway is Quadruple Board Certified in cosmetic surgery through the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the American Board of Otolaryngology, so you can move forward with complete confidence, knowing that your surgeon has the ultimate in training and experience. And affordable financing is always available to help you achieve the natural results you’ve been dreaming of.

A breast lift can be expected to last for many years, unless your body goes through significant changes, such as weight fluctuations or pregnancy. Of course, none of us are immune forever to gravity and aging. Eventually, even breasts that have been naturally and beautifully lifted will droop or sag.

If this happens, you can meet with Dr. Broadway again to discuss one more breast lift procedure. While a second breast lift may produce noticeable scars, these fade over the course of time. For some women, a few scars are not bothersome compared to the beautiful new figure they now enjoy.

Breast surgery with Dr. Broadway does not require an overnight stay. Your surgery will be performed at Renewal Surgery Center, which is fully licensed and dedicated to plastic surgery procedures. You should be able to return to the comfort of your home for your recovery a few hours after surgery. Full recovery generally takes about 12 weeks, but will vary for each patient. Most patients can return to normal activities and resume their usual exercise routine about 3 weeks after surgery.

Your breast augmentation or breast lift results will last for years to come. Factors such as age, weight loss or gain, and pregnancy can affect the appearance of your breast implants and results from your breast lift. During your consultation, Dr. Broadway can talk specifically about your body and the results you can expect.

The timing for breast augmentation is a purely personal decision and not all women agree on what age is too old. While some may consider 60 years too old, others may not. The biggest concern when women become older is their overall health and the longer healing process.

Plastic surgery may be the best solution to bring about a more aesthetically pleasing look for the nipples and the breasts. Dr. Broadway will work with you to reach your goal of beautiful, natural looking nipples and breasts.

Your preferred Surgical technique will influences the level of scarring you will experience after your breast augmentation. We perform breast augmentations with a minimum level of trauma to the breast, which helps to minimize your scarring. We also practice strict anti-infection protocols that reduce the chance you will experience an infection that can lead to increased scarring.

Scarring from breast enlargement surgery will be firm and pink for about six weeks, and it will begin to fade over several months. However, the scars will never completely disappear.

During the 1-1/2 hour consultation, you will:

  • Review your medical history form. This will give Dr. Broadway an opportunity to assess if you are a good candidate for surgery.
  • Discuss the optimum breast augmentation surgery itself and any risks involved.
  • Change into a gown so that Dr. Broadway may examine and thoroughly measure you. We will recommend implant styles and sizes to you to help you get the cup size that you desire.
  • You will have an opportunity to try on the implants and utilize the Vectra 3D Breast Imaging Program.
  • Meet with a staff member who will show you before and after pictures of past patients.
  • Review the cost of your surgery and learn the details about preparing for your breast augmentation surgery.
  • Choose a date for your surgery!

Dr. Broadway’s breast augmentation surgery basic cost is approximately $7,500.

Bigger is not always better. Excellent results can be achieved by choosing a more moderately sized implant, and many women who initially thought they wanted large implants are very happy with the decision to choose a somewhat smaller size.

Think carefully about your goals and Dr. Broadway will use his years of expertise and training to help guide you to make the right choice.
