Uneven / Asymmetrical Breasts
The three major factors that determine breast appearance are the size, shape and position of the breast and nipple. While it is not unusual for women to have one breast larger or shaped differently than the other, significant differences can be harmful to a woman’s self-esteem. Breast asymmetries are often due to genetic dispositions or events in which the two breasts grow differently. Pregnancy, menopause and nursing can all influence the size and shape of your breasts, while also contributing to asymmetry.
Options for Uneven Breasts
Breast augmentation for uneven breasts may be approached in more than one way. Breast asymmetry can be fixed by:
- Breast implants — Many of Dr. Broadway’s breast augmentation patients decide to go with two different size implants bringing breast symmetry closer together. This can be easily done with both high cohesive silicone gel and saline breast implants. During your consultation we will guide you to help you make the right choice, giving you the most beautiful, most symmetrical result.
- Fat transfer to the breasts — The most advanced breast enhancement procedure is fat transfer to the female breasts. This procedure allows Dr. Broadway to inject your fat to specified areas of the breast to enhance volume and provide more symmetry.
- Breast Reduction — This procedure allows Dr. Broadway to remove breast tissue and skin. By allowing an incision you are allowing Dr. Broadway to remove and sculpt a more desired breast.
- In some cases, sagging (ptosis) of one or both breasts can be addressed with a mastopexy (breast lift). This procedure can make a dramatic improvement in the appearance of asymmetry.
