What should I expect the day of surgery?
It is important to follow all of your surgeon’s instructions for the day of your procedure to ensure your body heals as well and as quickly as possible. Like any other type of operation, breast surgery is an invasive procedure that involves careful planning before, during and after your procedure.
At the Broadway Center for Plastic Surgery, your care and safety are top priority. It is important to Dr. Broadway and his staff that you receive individually focused attention throughout your surgery planning, surgery and post-operative care.
When you arrive for surgery you will be escorted back to the Pre Anesthetic Care Unit where Dr. Broadway and the anesthesia provider will begin preparations for your surgery. Dr. Broadway will draw on you with a marking pen allowing him to place your incision in the desired location. He will then help to answer any last minute questions you may be having.
Next, the anesthesia provider will personally introduce themselves and administer your IV. You will have spoken to one of the Anesthesia team members a few days prior to surgery helping to answer any questions, so at this point you should feel confident about the anesthetic portion of your procedure. Once the IV is administered you will more than likely not even remember being rolled into the O.R.
After your surgery, you will recover in the Post Anesthetic Care Unit where we provide warm socks to help with blood circulation, as well as cookies, crackers and refreshments. You will be monitored and well tended to by the Renewal Center Surgery staff until you feel ready to return home with the friend or relative that is helping to take care of you within the first few days following your surgery. Typically, you will feel well enough to go home about 1 hour after your procedure, and you will be sent home with a pain control pump that helps to relieve discomfort in the first 48 hours following your surgery.
Before and after your surgery, you will notice the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the Renewal Surgery Center (link to www.renewalsurgercenter.com), and you will be cared for by a highly trained and compassionate staff. We feel you will be impressed by our entire surgical team who will help to make your experience as tranquil and pleasant as possible.
From them moment you first walk into our office, you will be greeted and cared for by a Dr. Broadway’s dedicated team who will offer you a level of professionalism and commitment to patient care that you will not find anywhere else. This commitment will continue through your entire surgical process offering you one of the most positive, life-changing events you will ever experience.
