About Recovery
Denver Breast
Recovery is different for every patient. At Denver Breast, we will monitor recovery successes and challenges on an individual level to ensure each patient’s needs are met. Depending on the types of procedures provided, the state of the body before surgery, age, and other factors, recovery time can vary. Normal activity is expected within the first week. Usually the patient will begin physical activity on the second week.
What to
Expect
After your breast surgery, you are likely to feel discomfort but this is managed with long lasting local anesthetics placed during surgery, non-narcotic medication, muscle relaxants, and if needed, narcotic medication. Mild swelling, minor bruising, and irritation at the incision site are more common side effects following breast augmentation surgery.

Best Practices
for Recovery
Before surgery, set aside clothes which you’ll be able to wear while recovering. Loose shirts, preferably button-downs or zip ups, will be important in ensuring the affected area is not disturbed or traumatized during recovery. Staying hydrated and taking proactive care of the incision sites are crucial components to proper recovery. Avoid going to the gym, cleaning the house, or any other strenuous activity until instructed otherwise by your physician to ensure your safety in the weeks after your surgery. Take medications as advised for pain.
